How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

Cold brew coffee is one of the easiest way to brew coffee. Although there are many ways to cold brew, we are going to teach you how to brew without too much equipment involved. So you can make cold brew coffee in the leisure of your own home!

Preparations

First, you need to prepare some coarse grind coffee beans, you can get it from your local supermarket or any local coffee bean roasters. Alternatively you can grind your own beans using a manual grinder which is not too expensive as an investment.

Then you will need a jar / jug to brew your coffee beans. We suggest a minimum capacity of 1 liter, but you can choose a suitable one depending on how much coffee you want to brew. And lastly and a coffee filter, preferably cloth types.

Here comes the brewing part

The ratio we are going to use is 1:10 (1 part coffee & 10 parts water) as follows:

> 100g coarse grind coffee beans.

> 1 Liter of filtered room temperature or cold water.

Combine the ground coffee inside the jug with filtered cold (or room temperature) water. Make sure to stir and incorporate well, close the lid, and leave it to steep in the fridge for approximately 12-24 hours.

Next we are going to strain the coffee using the cloth filter into a clean bottle or a glass jar. And there you have it, your batch of cold brew is ready to serve!

Serve it on ice, milk, whipped cream or any other drinks you desired! There are infinite possibilities you can mix with cold brew coffee.

Take away notes

Cold brew can be kept in the fridge for up to 14 days. Once you get the process right, you might want to experiment and tweak to your liking. For example, for a stronger cold brew, you might want to try 1:5 ratio. Experiment as much as you like until you get the desired outcome. That's what home brewing is all about!
