Nitro Style Black Russian Recipe

This classic cocktail from the 1950’s is the perfect after dinner drink or afternoon pick-me-up. Let's dive into it!

A brief history lesson

The Black / White Russian is a vodka cocktail with coffee liqueur. This classic cocktail was invented back in 1949, when it was created in a hotel bar in Brussels for the American ambassador to Luxembourg.

So, the drink is not Russian in origin! It was named for the vodka and the black color of the coffee liqueur. Lets spice it up a notch with Nitro!

Preparations & Ingredients

We gonna have 2 versions for the recipe, one black and white version. Here are the following ingredients you will need:

  • 1.5 oz Vodka of your choice

  • 2 oz Fresh Brew Coffee

  • 0.75 oz Kahlua or Baileys or any Coffee Liqueur of your choice

  • 0.75 oz Almond Liqueuer eg. Amaretto (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon Sugar

  • Red Cherries (optional)

  • Some Ice cubes

Let's Brew (Black Russian)

  1. Pre chilled your Glass in the fridge or put some ice cubes in it.

  2. Combine Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, Almond Liqueur, Coffee, Sugar and ice cubes into Shaker / NitroBrew Kettle.

Let's Serve!

Cocktail Shaker (Non-Nitro)

  1. Shake for 15 seconds.

  2. Pour away the pre chilled ice cubes from the Glass.

  3. Slowly pour into the glass with a strainer.

  4. Garnish with a piece of red cherry (optional).

NitroBrew Kettle (Nitro)

  1. Infuse the kettle around 42 psi and shake for 15 Seconds.

  2. Pour away the pre chilled ice cubes from the Glass.

  3. Slowly disperse the drink into Glass.

  4. Garnish with a piece of red cherry (optional).

*Tip: You may need to release some pressure (approximately 20-30%) before disperse directly on the shallow Glass to avoid any spills.

White Russian (Alternative)

To make it a White Russian, just add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream or whipped cream on top of the drink, and there you go, White Russian is completed.

Take away notes

There you go, Nitro Black / White Russian is done! Mix and match with different ingredients to your liking, such as replacing cherries into orange peel. Let your creativity flows, that's what cocktails are about!
